Install on Android

Open WindRings in Chrome, then tap the top-bar Install button when it appears. If Chrome shows its own browser menu instead, use Install app or Add to Home screen. On Samsung Internet, use the browser install icon or the menu path Add page to and install it to your apps or home screen. If you want the native Android overlay app, tap Android App below for the APK page.

Install on iPhone or iPad

Open the site in Safari, tap Share, then choose Add to Home Screen and tap Add. WindRings will then open from the home screen in its own app-style window for faster access.

Use Float Over Other Apps

Android Chrome: Tap Float to open the mini window, then switch to your GPS, scorecard, or any other app. The window stays visible on top, and you can drag it where you want.

Samsung Browser: Tap Float to view the Samsung setup. Install WindRings first, then use Android Open in pop-up view from Recent apps for a true floating window on Galaxy devices.

iPhone: iOS does not allow a true floating web window over other apps, so use the app switcher for quick back-and-forth access.

iPad: Tap Float to view Slide Over and Split View instructions so WindRings can stay on-screen beside or above another app.

Float on iPhone & iPad

iPhone and iPad handle multitasking differently. Use the setup below to keep WindRings easy to reach while another app is open.

Install to Home Screen

Open WindRings in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Launching from the home screen removes browser chrome and makes app switching faster.

iPhone: Use Quick App Switcher

Swipe up from the bottom and pause to see open apps. Keep WindRings open there while you use your other app, then jump back with one tap whenever you need the chart.

iPad: Use Slide Over

Open another app, reveal the dock, then drag WindRings from the dock to the left or right edge. It opens in a Slide Over panel that can stay above the main app and be moved aside when needed.

iPad: Split View

For a larger layout, drag WindRings to the left or right side until the screen splits. Use Split View to keep WindRings and your GPS or scorecard visible at the same time.

Important iPhone Limitation

Safari and installed web apps on iPhone cannot stay as a true floating window over another app. The closest option is keeping WindRings installed on the home screen and switching back to it with the app switcher.

Samsung Browser Setup

WindRings works in Samsung Internet, but floating over other apps uses Samsung's One UI multitasking instead of Chrome's document PiP API.

Install from Samsung Internet

Use the install icon in the address bar when it appears. If you do not see it, open the Samsung Internet menu, tap Add page to, then choose Apps screen or Home screen.

Launch WindRings as an app

Open WindRings from your apps list or home screen so Android treats it like a standalone app instead of a browser tab.

Open Pop-up View

Open Recent apps, tap the WindRings app icon above its preview card, then choose Open in pop-up view. That creates Samsung's floating window over your other apps.

Resize or dock it

Drag the pop-up where you want it, resize it for quick lookups, or use Split screen view if you prefer WindRings side-by-side with GPS or scorekeeping.

Why this is different

Samsung Internet installs PWAs, but the Chrome-specific Document Picture-in-Picture API used for this app's mini floating calculator is not available there. On Galaxy devices, the reliable floating-window path is Pop-up view or Split screen.
